Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Aviation ID Australia is a government approved Issuing Body under the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005. We are a company that collects an individual’s personal information and submits this information to the Department of Home Affairs for the purpose of distributing ASIC cards

Collection of Personal Information
We collect personal information and documents solely for the purpose of processing an ASIC application. This information may include a combination of:

  • Name, date of birth, address history
  • Birth certificate
  • Marriage certificate
  • Citizenship certificate
  • Visa details
  • Proof of change of name details
  • Driver’s licence
  • Passport
  • Medicare card
  • Employment or study details
  • Qualification licences and certificates
  • Previous ASIC information
  • Other identification documents as required by law.

The personal information we collect is strictly limited to the minimum amount possible in order for us to process your application and issue you an ASIC. We collect your personal information and documents via a secure online platform and/or via hard copy to our office.

Disclosure of Personal Information
The personal information we collect is disclosed to the Department of Home Affairs via their government agency, AusCheck. AusCheck conduct a background check on each individual who applies for an ASIC. AusCheck may disclose your information to other government agencies to conduct your background check. We will not provide your information to any other third parties, unless they are contracted by us specifically to perform ASIC issuing activities (such as our ID-Check Agents) or if required by law.

Your Rights and Choices
When you complete our online application form, you are required to complete an applicant acknowledgement and consent. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions listed in this section, you can choose to abort your application. This section includes acceptance of the AusCheck Privacy Notice and consent for us to provide your details to AusCheck.
You can request that we disclose the personal information we hold on you, and request that we make changes to that personal information. If you make such a request, we will use multiple identifying factors (such as security questions) to verify that your request is legitimate.

Security of Your Information
We will ensure that all information collected and retained by us is kept secure. Our cyber security mitigation strategies have been developed in line with the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s recommendations and are maintained at levels well above the minimum government requirements for issuing bodies. Our cyber security is audited annually, and our internal quality control is continuously monitored.

If you would like to lodge a complaint about privacy, please make it in writing to:

Should a complaint be received, we will conduct an internal review and endeavour to reach a satisfactory outcome for you within a reasonable time period. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can escalate your complaint directly to the Department of Home Affairs.
